REAL Ingredients, REAL Results, REALLY Healthy!

I think you should really tune in NOW. This is a big one….. nutritional supplement companies are supposed to do 2 things for us as a consumer. Their purpose (at least what they tell us) & intention is to provide convenient high quality nutritional supplementation, for the busy lifestyle to make losing weight & being healthier easier.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Today, some really cool studies have shown that about 95% of companies that produce these supplements for us, are actually producing a product that can be, & HAS been very dangerous for the human body & it’s health!

Several of these companies are using ingredients (referring to ingredient lists printed on products) that are chemically binded “all natural,” & man made neurotoxins (let me remind you this is not all the products, all companies.)

Losing weight really can be easier, faster, healthier & more importantly, FEEL GOOD; & you have to remember adding in the fun parts : ) Taking nutritional supplements is safe & healthy when taken from NutriHarmony. NutriHarmony is one of the very few companies that I trust as far as providing the best quality ingredients for it’s customers!

  • multi-vitiamans
  • high quality calcium
  • 97% absorption rate with most of the products
  • high quality whey protein for building sexy lean mass
  • high quality energy drink that's NON-TOXIC called Enfusia
  • digestive supplements for less pain, less toxicity & all around better health
  • an effective lean maximizer

Getting on an efficient & effective NutriHarmony program has proven to help all the people I know who use the products get REALLY healthy results, faster! Lose weight, be healthier, FEEL better & LIVE better with the help of NDBC & enjoying some of the REAL food formula products from Nutriharmony.

Clean Bites: Local Tomatoes Gone Simply Blue

Weekends are where I can take my Foodie moments at a leisurely pace. Last Friday, I ventured to Central Market with a focus on CLEAN and/or LOCAL produce.

In my shopping cart, I placed red and yellow tomatoes, along with brussel sprouts and okra-all grown in Texas. Among other items on my list, I chose a raw blue cheese.

Knowing my boyfriend would come home hungry, I made a treat to snack on while we prepared our dinner.

I sliced the red and yellow tomatoes, picked fresh basil from our potted herb garden, drizzled Texas olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Next, I crumbled the raw blue cheese on top sprinkling a touch of sea salt and cracked pepper to finish the dish.

What I liked about the dish was how simple, clean, fresh it was, and my conscience felt good about using mostly local ingrediants. Preparing good food doesn't have to be tasking.

Sometimes it is important to keep it simple. Eating clean & participating inNDBC has really made a difference! Looking forward to the next boot camp session that will begin next week! Until next time! - Jen B.

Motivation Through Inspiration

Inspiration comes in many forms. As I am about to complete my first month of boot camp, I noticed something today as I was getting dressed. When I buckled my belt, I needed to buckle it in one hole. My inspiration today was noticing my waistline is a little smaller.

tight_beltAs I mentioned before, I am refusing to hop on the scale and I haven't been measuring myself (although I probably should at least do that). I have simply been focusing on making it to bootcamp three times a week and making better food choices.

This month has been challenging. I moved into our new home and picked up a new clientthe weekend before my first day of boot camp. So I have been making an effort to keep up my normal schedule, fit in my new client, unpack, reorganize, show up to boot camp, and make better choices in my diet. In the beginning, it was difficult figuring how I could fit everything in while all of my belongings were in disarray. The first week of class I was tired and sore from the workout, but I stuck it out.

During the third week, a classmate showed up with a plastic air cast on her leg. She had injured her ankle the night before, but decided to show up to boot camp anyway. Instead of focusing on her injury and what she couldn't do, she came anyway and focused on her strengths. While we did squats, she did curls. I am not sure if she knows it, but she was a huge inspiration to me in my momentary moving/reorganizing my life chaos.

Yesterday morning, as my 5:45 alarm went off. I struggled to get out of bed, I had worked late the night before and didn't crawl into bed until way after midnight. Then, I thought of the girl who inspired me last week, got dressed, and went to boot camp. Within 15 minutes of walking through the door, I was awake, laughing and motivated to kick off the day.

Changing, to Keep it REAL

I am doing something a little different as I embark on my fitness journey beginning with The North Dallas Boot Camp. This time, instead of obsessing about the calories I consume, fat free this & that, fad diets or the weight I want to lose, I am trying a new method. I am focusing on Mario's concept to keep it REAL.

That is focusing on REAL Eating, REAL Movement, REAL Thinking.... REAL Living. With that lesson in mind, while I do want to lose weight, weight loss isn't going to be my main focus as I begin making positive lifestyle changes. Instead of counting calories going in and out of my body, I'm focusing on being active and simply making better choiceswhen it comes to the food I consume. I also want to have fun, be stronger, achieve better balance, and handle stress better. I figure if I focus on these, then the weight loss will come.

I am now in my third week of boot camp and I feel fantastic. I already notice that I have more energy, I am sleeping better, and I am feeling as though I stand a little taller. Keeping it REAL is already proving to have its benefits....and just think, my journey has just begun. The REALity is.... changing to be better is still LIVING your life while ADDING more quality to your body, mind & spirit.

Quality Cooking With Quality Food

A Unique Cook Book

If you haven't heard me say this, or if you haven't read this statement in anything that I have posted or sent you... I want you to know (client or not), that I will ALWAYS do my ABSOLUTE BEST to provide you with the BEST information, products & service. I think that any business with this as part of their philosophy, truly has the BEST interest of their clients, customers & users in mind. This should tell you that I truly care & want YOU to be better!

With all the new hype about eating organic, raw, unprocessed, joining co-ops, "natural", "healthy" (I think that those 2 words have totally been skewed in a direction that doesn't stand strong), there are many people asking questions like...

"What do I cook? How do I prepare all the food I am now buying whole? How can I still enjoy my food without making it "unhealthy?" What ingredients are best to use with my organic food? How can I get the best $value$ from the food that I am now buying? How can I have fun in the kitchen? How do I know if this "new" food is truly better? How can I still live my busy lifestyle & still eat what's best for me? What is convenient?"

A couple of my colleagues from The Movement Dallas have introduced me to a book that helps to answer ALL & many more of these questions that you may have. This book is called Nourishing Traditions, by Sally Fallon.

"Nourshing Traditions offers modern families a fascinating guide to wise food choices & proper preperation techniques. Nutrition researcher Dally Fallon unites the wisdom of the ancients with the latest independent & accurate scientific research. This edition contains over 700 delicious recipes that will please anyone from exacting gourmets & busy parents."

This book has been a great help for me in my "continuing to be better lifestyle" & has taught me so many interesting facts aboutthe foods that I eat, what I THOUGHT was good for me & what others tell me I should & shouldn't have in my diet. I would like for all of you to consider this source & include it in your kitchen. Cook a meal with your family, your friends or even your co-workers. We have always used food as a social ingredient, let's make that ingredient that best that we can so that we continuously enjoy getting better, at the same time improving our life source Mother Nature.

TEDxSMU: Check Out TED

I recently stumbled upon an AWESOME website called TED. I spent 2.5 hours yesterday surfing this site & felt that this is a site I would like to tell you about. It is one POWERFUL tool to get you to start thinking & asking. Which believe it or not... not very many of us do! Anyway, I applied to attend their live event here in Dallas & wanted to share with everyone what that process was like! NOTHING LIKE ANY APPLICATION PROCESS I HAVE EVER GONE THROUGH BEFORE! Part of the application asked the following questions:

This Is R.E.A.L.
This Is R.E.A.L.
  1. Why do you want to attend?
  2. What are your passions & accomplishments?
  3. Is there anything else you want us to know?

Here were my responses:

1. My wants for attending the conference would be to listen, learn, watch, engage, connect, network, share & educate. Feeling, hearing & seeing all the creative talks, passions & ideas of other educators, writers, inventors & musicians will feed the constant empowerment I have, & help re-fuel my energy so that I can continue to create ideas & "tribes" that contribute to the betterment & changing of the world. I want to attend TED to create an opportunity that will allow a representative from a community movement or "tribe" my colleagues & I have created, to be a speaker at the next conference &/or somehow part of this conference. I want to feel what it's like to be around such creativity & powerful energy, weather it's negative or positive. I want to be able to someday write & tell others that this TEDxSMU event was a huge part of not only my growth as a R.E.A.L (one of my new concepts) entrepreneur, but also my growth as a tool of Divine Genius. I want to attend this event because today was LITERALLY the first time I have EVER heard of TED (through the Mercola.com website), & now I am filling out an application to actually get the chance to attend a live event. I spent 2.5 hours watching talks, the whole time visualizing myself speaking my words on a TED stage. I posted the TED link on my Facebook & commented that "I found a new favorite website", & a women I don't even know sent me this link. Please explain to me how this is not meant to be?

2. My passions are simple. Similar to others I'm sure but they are to continue to educate, to inspire, to create, to infiltrate, to spread, to heal, to love, to give, to help, to provide, to grow, to make better better, to change, to serve & to lead. My job is to awaken possibility & limitless opportunity in other people. "It’s not about wealth & fame & power… it’s about how many shining eyes I have around me", created from my passions. I have a passion of doing all of this by changing the way people eat, move, think & live. Specifically through the industry of health, wellness & fitness. I have a passion for continuing to be a successful entrepreneur by creating businesses that are going to help people be healthier & provide jobs at the same time. I also have an extreme passion for keeping our life source & my creator, Mother Nature, strong, healthy & beautiful. I find beauty in all life & things created from Mother Nature. Hell, I pick up trash during my runs in my neighborhood! LOL : ) Some of my big achievements have been moving to the "big city", losing 84 pounds, connecting myself with support, successfully starting my own businesses, becoming an educator & connector, releasing myself of restricted & limited thoughts & beliefs, coming "out of the closet" & creating a job that I love.

3. I have created a concept that I call R.E.A.L. The components are REAL Eating, REAL Movement & REAL Thinking. Which comes together as R.E.A.L. (Real Eating And Living) This is the "modern holistic" term, concept or idea that I am creating the foundations for my businesses & education. The REAL term is the "new holistic" & creative approach to health, wellness & fitness. When I speak on a TED stage, my 20 minutes will include REAL & the idea of it all. With REAL as my foundation I will talk about how passion, compassion, love & the creative force within us should be used to better our health & the health of Mother Nature. My goal for all that I create is to educate & make aware of what modern medicine, the industrialization of food & the information given to us as consumers by health, wellness & fitness propaganda, is TRULY not the best information that we are getting. Let alone the truth at all, & what some of the best solutions are. I want to create an opportunity for those who struggle with weight loss to realize that EVERYTHING they have ever wanted out of life is present & for their own taking. I want to provide to the BEST of my ability the best information, knowledge, products & services for not only all of my clients, but for the entire world. Words can hardly explain what losing 84 pounds has done to not only me, but to the lives of my clients. I have had this feeling of something big waiting to happen & appear in my life. This TED event maybe it, or a part of whatever “it” is. Help me continue to give to, & change the world.

I recommend that anyone take the time to check out the TED website & answer the 3 questions that I answered. It jut made me feel good. Consider me a "forward thinker".

In good health.

Food Labels: "Have You Ever Wondered?"

Have you ever wondered what is REALLY in the box or bag of food that you are buying from your “local” grocery store? Ever wondered what your favorite restaurant has in the back of the kitchen that they are using to prepare your food (& how it’s ALWAYS available & ALWAYS the same?) Ever wondered what was REALLY on the “guiltless menu” on your favorite “neighborhood” restaurant that has a location in almost every major city in the U.S.? Have you ever wondered or EVEN thought about what it means to claim to be “fat free”, “lowers cholesterol”, “cholesterol free”, “sugar free”, “calorie free”, “all natural”, “heart healthy” or any other ridiculous claims t

How POWERFUL are the PEOPLE who provide me with FOOD, really are?
How POWERFUL are the PEOPLE who provide me with FOOD, really are?

hat multi-corporation giants claim to be? Have you ever stopped & asked the questions, WHY & HOW multi-corporation giants became giants? Here is some simple truth (I want to clarify that it’s not the whole truth) THEY WILL PRINT & SAY WHAT EVER THEY CAN GET AWAY WITH, IF IT MEANS THAT THE CONSUMER (YOU) IS GOING TO BUY IT! They will make the packaging as “pretty” & marketable as possible, they will pay millions of dollars for campaigns that make them billions in return, then they will contribute even more millions to policy makers that allow them to produce “all natural fat free FOOD” products that are made from synthetic chemicals, genetically modified organisms (GMO’s), artificial flavors, preservatives, hydrogenated oils & even propellants! If you have ever wondered… here is a link that you might want to checkout. Even if this link is total B.S... have you ever wondered?

For information on what you can do to stop wondering & KNOW, you can contact NDBC for R.E.A.L education (Real Eating And Living.) Or you can check out any of the links under "Resources & Favorites."

I Thought I Knew, but Now I Know

I’ve often wondered how some of the amazing things people do like tri-triathlons, surviving an avalanche, lifting helicopters off people, winning 11 gold medals, being cured from cancer, eat vegetables, sleep 8 hours, stay under water for 8 minutes, lose weight, always winning the game…how do they do that?….I could go on and on right?

Well…I figured out the answer…..THE BODY ALL READY KNOWS HOW TO DO ALL OF THAT, PLUS SOME!!!!!

The only thing our conscious & unconscious minds are responsible for, is doing our best, every day to keep the body from replacing the things it knows how to do, from things it wasn’t built to do like….losing 116 pounds in 2 years, curing itself from cancer, digesting synthetics, losing 84 lbs in 14 months, recovering from gastric by- pass or plastic surgery. All these things are things the body should never really have to do because if you lived a healthy lifestyle AT LEAST 80% of the time…that means moving better, eating better, thinking better, you wouldn’t have had to lose 84 lbs in 14 months in the first place. EVEN though the body knows how to do that.

Think about that.

Make it a great rest of the week and thank you everyone for all the support! Keep your eyes and ears open for NDBootCamp, The Movement Dallas and a few other locals getting involved!

The 5 Components to a Strong, Healthy, Sexy Looking Body

I want to start this post with a HUGE thank you! Thank you EVERYONE who has helped me and The North Dallas Boot Camp build and grow. A very special thanks to Kim Hull of Seven Aspens and everyone from Powerplay Fitness. If you're wondering who EVERYONE else is? That's EVERYONE I know, literally! THANK YOU!

Now to the juicy stuff!!

I like to teach the 80/20 rule. The 80/20 rule means that 80% of your life, of your time, make healthy NUTRITIOUS food choices, exercise CONSISTENTLY and EFFECTIVELY and rest properly. What you decide to do with the other 20% is your business! Now think about it, if you live the 80/20 rule CONSISTENTLY, you, your body and your health will be able to "afford" the 20% of the "bad stuff". Enjoy wine? Drink it. Like chocolate and peanut butter together? (MY FAVORITE!) Eat it! Like to party hardy and get 2 hours of sleep here and there? Go out! No one is perfect! Always remember to remember...live the 80/20 rule!

Now living the 80/20 CONSISTENTLY involves 5 components of health & fitness that I beleive are a must to be healthy, feel strong and look sexy! Here they are in order of priority...

1. KEEP A POSITIVE MENTAL ATTITUDE

Do things and think things that make you feel good! Keep that feeling of feeling good and stay positive. Have a positive out look on everything you do. If your not happy, then what is all this (life) for? I think it's also important not to forget about the negative. Realize the negative, learn from it and pull out the positive from it and dwell on that, not the negative. Remember...with every negative, there's a positive. Otherwise there wouldn't be a negative right?

2. NUTRITION, NUTRITION, NUTRITION

You cannot, allow me to repeat, CANNOT change with out proper nutrition. You cannot look and feel healthy on the outside if your not healthy on the inside. Always remember "you are what you eat", literally! You literally have a new body about every 2 years. If your filling your body with crappy energy (food), I can guarantee you will look and feel crappy too. You wouldn't put regular unleaded in your Ferrari if your tank was empty would you? Get it? Don't forget that good nutrition means whole, natural unprocessed QUALITY foods!

3. YOUR FLEXIBILITY SYSTEM

In order to be strong and look sexy you need a healthy flexibility system. Include dynamic and static stretching in all your workouts. Take a Yoga class, stretch in the mornings and/or before you go to bed. Make stretching a part of your exercise routine. And I don't mean take 30 seconds to wave your arms around or bending 2 or 3 times over, I mean REALLY practice good stretching techniques. Remember your muscles can't effectively grow and repair if they and the rest of your body are not somewhat flexible. Which brings us to...

4. YOUR MUSCULATURE SYSTEM

Healthy, strong muscle tissue (lean mass) is what shapes the body into that nice lean and attractive figure. Everyone dwells and always says "I want to lose weight", let's change that and say "I want to change my body composition" (build good lean mass and lower your body fat percentage). If you have said "I need to change this fat on me into muscle..", you are in the wrong state of mind...not possible! THEY ARE 2 TOTALLY DIFFERENT KINDS OF TISSUE! You can't change your hair into your finger nails can you? Strength training effectively builds lean mass, work your anaerobic system!

5. YOUR CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM

Now I shouldn't have to explain this too much. Exercising your aerobic system is important for heart health, keeping that lean attractive body and stimulating your cardiovascular system. Along with many other health benefits. Now, the stronger your aerobic system the stronger you are! Why? Because the more oxygen the body is able to use efficiently, the stronger all the other systems are. I hope you see now how all this works together!

These are the 5 components to a healthy, strong feeling and sexy looking body. Practice, include and live these 5 components 80% of your life, and I PROMISE not only will your health and body improve, but your quality of life will be amazing and happy! After all (and I know that I'm right on this one), what do we all really want? That's to be happy and feel good! It's the "domino effect!"

Just one more thing...to all of those who are thin, or at a healthy weight...JUST BECAUSE YOUR "SKINNY" DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE HEALTHY!!!

Thanks again everyone and I will catch you on the flip side.....

Simple Quote

I always do my best to start and end each and every fitness boot camp class with a quote of the day. I do it to give something positive to all my participants and to hopefully try to get them to understand that being positive about your goals, wants and life, no matter what it is, will help you reach that goal or get you what you want....

I asked everyone if they ever had a favorite positive quote they wanted to share just to let me know. Here is Vanessa's quote.

"Don't strive to be perfect, instead strive to be remarkable." Her comment on this quote was..."I think all too often we try too hard to be perfect in our work and home lives. I believe it is more important to be and do remarkable things as perfection is highly overrated."

I think Vanessa is right. Don't try to be perfect, then what fun would you be if you were perfect? And if everything was perfect, than that must mean everything would be easy. Well, "that which is excellence is seldom easy".

I just felt that posting this would hopefully give some motivation and encouragement to anyone who reads it. I truly believe that in order to reach a certain goal, you MUST STAY POSTIVE and always believe that you will meet that goal. With that being said, motivation is an important feeling to have in order to be successful!

Ask yourself this question...."What is my motivation?" If you can't answer that....let me know!
